BIRSE RAIL - WESTERN VIADUCT, FRODSHAM

THE CHALLENGE

The customer needed access under a span of 28.00m over a canal.  Unfortunately crane support was not possible due to access restrictions.

THE SOLUTION

To use a series of pulleys and rope to assist us with building sections of Haki bridge, using the push-out method i.e. building a small section off a support tower on one side of the canal, pushing out with the support of the rope and pulleys then repeating until we was able to safely land the bridge on the opposit support tower.

THE OUTCOME

A beamed birdcage, allowing full access to the bridge underside, rather than a progressive approach.
